Agua Norte is located only 4 miles "North" of Grand Marais. It is the perfect distance to feel like you are in the woods but still run to town when you choose. Our 20 acre parcel of land is nested by the Northwoods evergreen trees and Lake Superior. You can walk down the driveway to a long Lake Superior beach or reach a few different hiking trails within minutes (Devils Track, Kadunce, Devils Kettle, Pincushion).

Guest Access

Guests are welcome to enjoy the entire cabin as well as its near surroundings, deck and firepit. Sauna and hiking trail are also available for all guests.

A must stay place!" - James, October 2024 Our property is located on a 20 acre slice of the Northwoods nested in between evergreen trees and Lake Superior. Hike our trail loop, stroll down to the pebble beach, take a sauna or enjoy the 7 minute drive to Grand Marais town. → CABIN: The 18’x22’ building was finished in 2022. Many of the white pine timbers that compose the frame were locally and sustainably logged. It has 8 large windows and a cathedral ceiling making this cabin very airy, elegant and modern. It has been thoughtfully designed with one or 2 people in mind. → LIVING/DINING ROOM Enjoy a 180 degree view of Lake Superior from anywhere in this area: while sipping coffee on the cozy chairs or enjoying a meal at the dining table. The propane Jotul stove and cozy throw blankets will make you snuggle up and enjoy the snow fall. → KITCHENETTE: The kitchen is a beautiful place to cook light meals and enjoy the lake view. It has an under the counter fridge (with no freezer), a two burner induction cooktop, coffee maker, tea kettle and all cooking utensils. → BATHROOM The bathroom is truly spa-like: beautiful, spacious and airy. It has a shower, cedar wood paneling and a white vessel sink. → ENTERTAINMENT: There is a smart TV and a record player. → SAUNA: Andrew finished our 10x14 sauna in 2019. It has cedar paneling and a wood burning stove, a nice size changing area, a large window in the sauna room overlooking Lake Superior and a nice porch to cool off and enjoy the view. While the sauna is shared among our three cabins, guests must reserve their sessions to ensure exclusive time and privacy. → OUTSIDE: Outside, the cedar deck is wonderful for enjoying the beautiful sunsets and listening to the birds. The fire pit is only a few steps away and overlooks Lake Superior. Oh, and keep an eye out for all the bald eagles! The big tall spruce tree on the edge of the cliff overlooking the lake is the hangout area for these beautiful birds. It is basically guaranteed that you will see one or a couple hanging out on the three and being harassed by crows and seagulls.

Other Details to Note

1. We require that you read and agree with our Rental Agreement. A direct link to it will be sent to you via AirBnB messages shortly after your booking. You will have 48 hours starting at time of booking to read and agree or to cancel your reservation for a full refund. 2. Please be mindful that the Tranquilo Cabin shares property with Agua Norte Cabin and Agua Norte Loft. Closeness to nature and solitude are a couple of the reasons why our guests choose to visit our property and we ask that you respect quiet hours and our other guests' privacy. Please see photos for reference. 3. All guests must fill out a registry form upon check-in complying with MN STATUTE 2018​ 327.10​. A link to this form will be sent to you on your welcome message shortly after your booking is confirmed. 4. Our driveway is steep and can be icy and slippery during cold months. A 4/AWD vehicle is highly recommended and in the event that you can't make it up the driveway, you are fully responsible to remove your vehicle and free up the driveway immediately. 5. Agua Norte is also our home. We do reserve the right to work, maintain and enjoy our property. We lead very busy lives, specially in the Summer and we are in and out of the property often. 6. The Northwoods is full of wildlife and bugs. Please be respectful of the animals you will see on the property. Spring and Summer are heavy bug seasons and you will have to deal with mosquitos, occasional spiders and cluster flies. We do what we can to minimize flies around the building during fly season, but some years are worse than others and they may come regardless of our efforts.

booked this airbnb for my sister's birthday and it was magical! super cute place + amazing view + centrally located but still private and peaceful! + the record player was a fun touch. would recommend and would stay again!!

The Tranquillo cabin at Agua Norte is an amazing and magical place with stunning views and incredible cabin. I felt like I was in Scandinavia. The traditional sauna with the wood burning stove was incredible. Simone was responsive, clear and made our stay at her cabin an incredibly comfortable experience. My wife and I had a vacation that we will never forget!

We came in just before a blizzard started the first night. The blizzard went on for all of the next day and into the next night and was the biggest there in years. Turned the whole area into a winter wonderland. Andrew reached out (while we were using the sauna) by phone to make sure that we were all right and then made sure that he kept us up to date about his work with his plowing contractor to get the driveway plowed out to the highway. This is a beautiful place with uncommon views of Lake Superior. The sauna is easy to reserve for each 4-hour session and their clear instructions made it pleasurable and safe to use. Everything - the lodging and the sauna - were well maintained, stocked, and well designed and outfitted. It's obviously well built and insulated. Great for winter but I bet it's also super nice in the summer - and just a few minutes outside of Grand Marais where you can get food, coffee, etc.

We love staying at Agua Norte! This is the second time my best friend and o have booked this AirBnB for a fun, relaxing weekend. The place is beautiful and close to Grand Marais for groceries and restaurants. We also enjoy hitting up local hiking, even in the winter time. We love to puzzle and they even have a couple puzzles/games on site, but we do bring our own card table because there isn’t a big enough table if you actually want to puzzle. Worked out well enough!

We really enjoyed our stay in January. The cabin was very clean and the sauna was used most every day as it was very cold outside. Very quiet and relaxing as we hoped and not to far from town for amenities. Thank you for the relaxing stay!
